Here's the all-new Draytek Vigor 2830 Series ADSL/2+ multi-WAN router. Please note: if you came here looking for a Vigor 2820 - this is it! The 2820 has been superceded by the 2830; everything which made the Vigor 2820 series routers legendary is still there, but there have been significant enhancements under the skin.
The 2820 series won the PC Pro wireless router award three years in a row and the new 2830 series builds on that achievement by adding significant extra performance to the original feature set. Here's a summary of the key differences between the 2820 and 2830:
90Mb/sec WAN throughput (2820: 50Mb/sec) Multiple Private Subnets 3 Simultaneous WAN connections (2820: 2) 802.1q VLAN tagging Up to 60,000 NAT sessions (2820: 15,000) All Gigabit LAN ports (2820: 1 Gigabit port) User Management and Dual-level router admin
As well as providing a high-performance built-in ADSL/2+ modem, the 2830 series can support an unprecedented three simultaneous WAN connections - the built in modem, another feed via a gigabit WAN2 Ethernet connection, and a third WAN via a 3G modem. These three WANs can be configured for load-balancing or fail-over operation.
All four RJ45 LAN ports are gigabit capable.
Draytek's firewall is legendary and the 2830 series has a full implementation, as well as content filtering and GlobalView Web Filtering (subject to subscription) making the 2830 one of the safest and most secure routers available in its category. A full specification is shown below and detailed information and screenshots can be found at draytek's website www.draytek.co.uk.
A full specification follows but if you'd prefer not to read it just be assured that the Vigor 2830 series is one of the best-made, best-equipped and best supported ADSL routers you're likely to find on the UK market.
