Draytek's Vigor 2110 series offers very similar facilities to their hugely popular Vigor 2710 series (see our other listings), except with an Ethernet interface for use in cable set-ups. The 2110 series is ideal for Virgin Media environments. It shares the 2710 series' innovative case design (we like to call it the 'handbag'), which can be desktop, shelf or wall-mounted.
This listing is the 2110N model, which includes wireless LAN but not VoIP support.
The 2110VN has a comprehensive specification that includes 802.11n wi-fi, VoIP, NAS capability, printer sharing, Dynamic DNS posting support and much more. Here are some of the details:
3G
A key feature (not shared with the 2710 series) is the ability to use a 3G modem or suitable mobile phone connected to the USB port on the 2110 as a backup or primary Internet connection. For some residential applications as well as temporary locations such as trade show stands this provides a real alternative to a fixed line. Most 3G 'sticks' and phones are supported but please consult the list at www.draytek.co.uk for latest compatibility information.
NAS
A USB storage device can be plugged into the USB port to provide Network Attached Storage. Any FAT32 formatted device (including memory sticks) can be used and the router will provide FTP access to the storage both locally and via the internet. Access can be controlled by usernames and passwords, each of which can have their own directories and/or file access rights. File Sharing is also available as a Windows 'network drive'.
Wireless
The 2110VN’s wireless capability supports 802.11b, 801.11g and 802.11n Draft 2.0 with the latest MIMO technology with three aerials (2T3R). WDS (Wireless Distribution System) is supported as well as WMM (wireless Multi Media).
Firewall
Draytek are rightly famous for their firewalls and the 2110 series has a superb, richly-specified ‘grown-up’ firewall implementation. This feature alone justifies the price tag of a Draytek router.
VPN Facilities
The 2110 series supports up to 2 dial-out VPN tunnels to remote hosts.
Options
A variety of optional aerials are available for the wireless, including high gain, unidirectional and external-use options, and of course the N61 USB adapter (see our other listings) is ideal for upgrading a PC without wireless built-in.
Warranty
A full two-year warranty is provided on all 2110 series products.
